Agbami FPSO Turn Around Maintenance

Chevron’s Agbami FPSO is one of the major crude oil production platforms in Nigeria. It produces about 20 per cent of the country’s daily oil production output. Hence, the turnaround maintenance (TAM) on the platform became necessary to ensure that it continues to produce at optimum capacity, while not completely shutting down the facility. A complete shutdown of the facility would have posed huge challenges for the joint venture partners and the country as a whole.

The objectives of the TAM include:

  • To modify the existing 20” sea water lift pump lines;
  • To install a new flanged 20” x 6” reducing saddle;
  • To install a new flanged 20” x 2” reducing saddle;
  • Effect the repairs of seven (7) broken flanges on the sea water strainer at P3 L2;
  • The fabrication of the 14” CWC overboard line.

Two teams of engineers worked on the project; the day and night crews. The day crew were the first to mobilize to site and were there for a total of twenty-six (26) days prior to the commencement of the TAM. While the second crew (night crew) joined them before the TAM commenced. The project lasted for 47 days. Personnel were mobilized to site on November 7, 2016 and demobilized on December 24, 2016.
